Carol Look, an EFT Master who is featured in several of the EFT Training videos (emofree.com), has written this book in a simple and very effective way. It can apply to all areas of your life in which you want to create abundance, but it’s aimed at financial prosperity. The procedure is based on the idea that everything in the universe operates by frequency, and everything has its own energy signature. We all know that a certain amplitude and frequency of light wave will always produce the same color. Here’s a cool little interactive tutorial that demonstrates this.
Every substance in the universe can be identified in this way, and according to the Law of Attraction, thoughts and emotions also have a typical vibration, or signal, which attracts similar signals. Therefore, if we create a signal of abundance within ourselves, we will much more easily draw the external manifestation as well.
Now, there’s an obvious problem with this. It seems REALLY, REALLY hard, not to say psychotic, to believe and feel as if I am living in a reality that doesn’t (yet) exist physically. If I have to make the decision not to buy things that I want or need because I don’t have enough money, it’s difficult to feel wealthy and prosperous. How can I imagine I already have what it’s so painfully obvious I don’t have?
At the same time, without any difficulty whatsoever, most of us are actually minute by minute creating an alternate reality that doesn’t exist physically. When we focus on what we lack, or worry about financial disasters that haven’t happened (yet) but might in the future, we are creating that reality for ourselves in vivid color. For instance, if I lie awake in the dark staring at the ceiling and imagining impending doom when the bills come or making frantic dollar calculations about expected earnings, my heart rate changes, my breathing changes, my whole body reacts to that intense fear. But none of this is happening in this moment—in reality, I am lying safely in my bed.
If I were more objective, I could note that that I am in fact safe at this moment, I do have friends and family, in fact I do have many talents and interests and resources. I don't know really what will happen. But when I keep thinking about what I don’t have, or what I want, which means I don’t have it, or what I’m afraid of, I forget what I do have.
Why is it so much easier to emotionally create the reality of fear and scarcity that potentially exists rather than the reality of abundance and contentment that potentially exists?
There are lots of answers to that question. The practical answer that EFT addresses is that we carry injunctions from our parents and teachers imparted when were children, not only directly about money, about also about self-worth and capability. We have limiting beliefs of our own, traumatic experiences related to money in the past, etc. ad inifitum. Or, really, ad nauseam, once you line them all up!
These beliefs and traumas are still present and active in our energy fields, just as if the 2-year-old who felt devastated and as if she could never be secure again when her father suddenly left, the 7-year-old who was told she couldn’t do anything right, the adolescent who got the idea she didn’t deserve to have anything, are all still having their say. EFT is a simple way of releasing those stuck beliefs that keep our thoughts and emotions running perpetually in the same groove.
Rather than you dredging up your fears and limiting beliefs about earning and having lots of money, and your bad experiences in the past related to money, Carol Look has created a kind of recipe book for changing your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. She divides fears and limiting beliefs into categories and breaks the categories down into specific setup phrases, then provides a routine for tapping through and releasing the negative beliefs and installing positive emotions. I imagine that by now she has heard from clients about every kind of stuckness that exists about having or being able to create abundance, especially hard cold cash, so it’s a great service to put them all in one place where we can work through them, one at a time, say half an hour per day. She intersperses writing and speaking games about feeling grateful and visualizing outcomes to change habitual ways of seeing and thinking.
Usually with EFT, when you start working on one issue and clear that, other related issues and experiences of your own will then crowd to the surface. I would go ahead and tap though those rather than sticking with the book, since it’s always better to be as specific as you can. Then when you finish that detour, go back to the book. You also want to test how true on a scale of 1-10 the statement feels when you finish your rounds – for example, “I feel guilty because I want more.” If that still seems true above a 1 or 2 out of a possible 10, keep tapping on it till it no longer seems true. The same for the positive statements - if it doesn’t feel true, keep tapping! Above all, don’t give up and relapse into habitual worries if you don’t see immediate results. It is probably decades of stuff you are turning around. Just keep working on it every day, and be sure to notice when positive things happen and changes occur, and include them in your gratitude lists.
