Work can be a passion, a joy, more lasting than any love affair--if it's your real work. Of course, your real work may or may not bring in a lot of money. It's a balancing act, and can be a difficult one to master.
And then, many of us keep our struggles with money a secret, sometimes even from ourselves. We'd rather not know exactly what the situation is, because then we can sort of ignore it and not have to take responsibility for improving it.
Focus, courage and persistence are the bywords here. Do you know how much money you need to live on, now and into the future? Do you know how much you are earning, and whether it is enough? Do you know how you are spending your money? Are you saving? Do you know what the work is that you want to be doing? Are you willing/able to sacrifice some security if necessary to find work that nourishes you?
If you are like most of us, following the answers to these questions is the royal road towards cleaning up some of the stickiest, messiest, scariest corners of your life. Not easy, but the order you create will lead to big positive changes in your life.
Are you feeling anxious because you have been caught in the recent meltdown and are facing losing your house (yes, house! Home is where the heart is...)? Are you subsisting on much less than you are used to? It may seem terrible, but not to worry! Fear and anxiety are truly, deeply worse than useless - they will make you ill. And the more you focus on the things you don't like, the more you get what you focus on.
Anything that seems like a catastrophe is another opportunity for opening into the possibilities of the moment. You will not even see them if your mood is in the toilet. Even though there is a big conventional wisdom field of "You SHOULD be miserable if things are going badly," ignore it! Don't commiserate. Use this experience as a resource to practice being happy - in spite of everything. It's more fun!
