money.gifThere are a few ways to get a free website to help pay for itself: to take paid advertising, to sell products, to affiliate with others who are selling products and get a commission on recommended products, or to ask for donations.

My goal is to create an advertising-free zone to the degree I can, and a place where recommendations are not motivated by commercial interest. To this end I have created a membership site where your subscription supports the site.

Occasionally a publisher sends me a book to review, but this in no way affects whether I list the book on the site.  I buy my own books, and fewer than a third of the books I buy have I found useful enough to be reviewed for the site.

If I am making a commission from any person or product recommended on this site, my policy is to list them here. I have affiliated with a few companies who are selling at least one product I like:

Amazon: has been discontinued because of tax legislation passed by the NC Legislature Hay House: a few products

I also ask any member who makes recommendations of products or services to disclose any money-making affiliation you have with that product or service.

Thanks!

Lisa Wagner
