MindBody Approaches
It is fairly well accepted now in a general way that "stress" and emotional attitudes can and do have an impact on one's health. The mindbody connection is one that will become more and more prominent as research continues in this field. Here are some interesting approaches:

This is a great follow-up on her first book on intuition.  In contrast to the "you are what you eat" approach, Schultz says "you are what you feel," and names her process of recognizing emotions and their effects and taking action to promote what is positive and neutralize what is negative "Emotional Feng Shui."  She has released another book and some CDs since this one, and has moved her practice more and more toward being a "psychic doctor."

A sensitive and fascinating approach to the subject of how the mind and emotions interact with the body to produce disease.  A compassionate and detailed examination of case histories of his patients supported with research data helps him explain the biological connection between emotional stress and a number of common diseases. To understand how health is radically influenced by thoughts, emotions, buried conflicts, happiness and unhappiness, this is a good introduction.

You Can Heal Your Life - Louise L. Hay Print E-mail

Louise L. Hay

I finally read this classic, having been prejudiced against it by the "new age industry" that is churning out motivational books by the carload, including her Hay House publishing company. In looking at world history and contemporary human behavior, there does not seem to be a shred of evidence that we are all magically progressing toward universal enlightenment. On the contrary. Reading any newspaper will demonstrate that humans still regularly behave toward each other with zero compassion and often gratuitous cruelty in the personal, social, business, political and especially the religious context. It takes real insight and desire to overcome these tendencies that exist in all of us.

You Can Heal Your Life Movie - Louise Hay Print E-mail

Featuring Louise Hay, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Gregg Braden, Dr. Christiane Northrup, Esther and Jerry Hicks, Cheryl Richardson, and Dr. Mona Lisa Shultz, among others.

This film is quite well-made. It avoids the supercharged tackiness of The Secret, but does a good job of presenting the concepts of the Law of Attraction and the use of affirmations. The best thing about the film is to see healing pioneer Louise Hay now celebrating her 80th year, looking gorgeous and full of vitality, speaking simply and modestly, and I swear not wearing a bra! I especially liked the presentation of her loving and hopeful work with young gay men with AIDS at the very beginning of the epidemic, before anyone knew anything about the syndrome.
