Dr. Lipton, evolutionary biologist, university professor and cell researcher, explains the story of his discovery that the brain of the cell is not the nucleus, as has always been thought, but the membrane, which decides what to allow into and out of the cell at every instant. His experiments showed that a cell without its nucleus, where the DNA resides, was only slightly impaired, but that without its membrane, it died. He demonstrated that the receptor antennae on the cell membrane respond not only to physical molecules, but also to vibrational fields such as light, sound, and radio frequencies.
This discovery is foundational to the "new biology" based on quantum physics rather than the Newtonian physics of mainstream medicine, which explains how the amazing achievements of energy therapies can be possible. His conclusion spells the death (but don't hold your breath) of genetic determinism and the view of the body as a machine made up of replaceable parts. He demonstrates that the cell’s operations, including the expression of any gene, are controlled from the environment, not from the DNA inside the cell. He says:
Hundreds upon hundreds of other scientific studies over the last fifty years have consistently revealed that “invisible forces” of the electromagnetic spectrum profoundly impact every facet of biological regulation. These energies include microwaves, radio frequencies, the visible light spectrum, extremely low frequencies, acoustic frequencies, and even a newly recognized form of force called scalar energy. Specific frequencies and patterns of electromagnetic radiation regulate DNA, RNA and protein synthesis, alter protein shape and function, and control gene regulation, cell division, cell differentiation, morphogenesis, hormone secretion, nerve growth and functions. Each one of these cellular activities is a fundamental behavior that contributes to the unfolding of life. Though these research studies have been published in some of the most respected biomedical journals, their revolutionary findings have not been incorporated into medical school curriculum.
He further concludes, “Thoughts, the mind’s energy, directly influence how the physical brain controls the body’s physiology…The new field of Epigenetics, which literally means ‘control above genetics,’ profoundly changes our understanding of how life is controlled.”
